-The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners is seeking individuals to serve as members on the newly-established City of Wilmington/New Hanover County Ad Hoc Committee on Improving Workforce/Affordable Housing. The purpose of the City/County Ad Hoc Committee is to conduct a comprehensive examination of workforce/affordable housing efforts, along with the demand for and supply of such housing, and recommended “best practices” that would be most appropriate to improve and increase the stock of available workforce housing in this region.

In December 2015, New Hanover County’s Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing Pender EMS and Fire to provide coverage to the Island Creek area in New Hanover County. This change has now been approved by the Insurance Service Office (ISO) and will take effect on June 1, 2016.
