Company to focus on national & global commercial and industrial recruitment

Edenton, NC – GVA Advantis, one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the Southeast, is expanding its presence in northeastern North Carolina with an office in Elizabeth City. Headquartered in Atlanta, GVA Advantis is a full-service real estate firm that leases, manages and sells office, industrial, retail and other commercial real estate properties, and sites. The company also provides tenant representation, corporate real estate services, construction, and property management services.

“GVA’s decision to open an office in northeastern North Carolina indicates that our region has emerged as an up and coming location for industrial and commercial growth,” said Gene Rodgers, Chairman of the Northeastern North Carolina Regional Economic Development Commission. “This relationship will give us access to potential new global clients in a way that has never existed before from within our region.”

David Twiddy, who also serves on the commission board said, “GVA Advantis brings to our region their worldwide network of Realtors and Brokers that together with our economic development professionals are sure to increase the areas exposure not only domestically, but globally. Their relationships with developers and corporate real estate decision makers give our region another outstanding resource to spread the word on the opportunities that exist in northeastern North Carolina.”

GVA Advantis manages over 20 million square feet of commercial facilities, and had an annual transaction volume of approximately $2.1 billion in 2006.

“We are pleased that they have chosen Elizabeth City to open their new office,” said Jimmie Dixon, a member of the Board of Commissioners for the Northeastern North Carolina Regional Economic Development Commission. “The opening of the new office shows that the Hampton Roads metropolitan area is expanding over the border into our region.”

GVA Advantis is no stranger to eastern North Carolina. “We believe the counties and localities in this region are poised for growth, and we would like to be part of the momentum. Our firm has a long history of being strongly connected to the communities in which we do business. We have been serving several clients in and around Elizabeth City for many years, and we decided it was time to establish a physical presence and get involved more directly. The Elizabeth City office is well situated in our Southeast footprint, and the 14 existing offices from Washington, DC to Destin, Florida. It will also complement our presence in Durham, led by David Oddo, and allow us to better serve our clients currently in the State and those desiring to do business in North Carolina in the future,” said Deborah K. Stearns, President, GVA Advantis Virginia/Washington, D.C.

Vann Rogerson, President and CEO of the Commission added, “GVA Advantis is a major player in the industry. The relationship that Ray White, our director, has built with the leadership at Advantis has resulted in them realizing the many opportunities available within our service area. As an ally, their worldwide network will help put us in front of prospects that have not been aware of the many assets and growth within our 16 counties.”

North Carolina’s Northeast Commission is dedicated to increasing the standard of living for citizens in its sixteen-county region through tourism, industrial, and business development. The 16 counties that comprise the regional Commission are: Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington.
