Council of State Approves Dix Property Proposal

-

December 4, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The North Carolina Council of State today approved Gov. Bev Perdue’s proposal to lease the Dorothea Dix property to the City of Raleigh by a vote of 6 to 2, with one abstention.

The lease agreement will allow the City of Raleigh to implement a master plan for a park on the 325-acre Dix property.

“After years of thoughtful discussion and deliberation, it’s time to continue moving forward on transferring the Dix property to the City of Raleigh,” said Gov. Bev Perdue. “The plan is the most appropriate way of preserving this open space as a park, while at the same time providing revenue to the state.”

The lease agreement will be executed by Dec. 31, 2012, pending approval from the Raleigh City Council later this afternoon.
