Funding Will Be Used To Support Housing Initiatives throughout Greensboro

Washington, DC – July 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12) today announced $3,574,061 in federal funding for Greensboro, North Carolina. The funding was allocated through four U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant programs and will be used to support housing initiatives to help those in need. Greensboro will receive $1,967,294 through the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG), $177,108 through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program, $1,108,477 through the HOME program and $321,182 through the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program.

“Having access to quality and affordable housing is critical for our communities,” said Congresswoman Adams. “This HUD funding for Greensboro will help tackle homelessness and help enhance the quality of life for so many in need. I have maintained a longstanding interest in safe, affordable housing initiatives throughout my service in local and state government and will continue to fight at the federal level for programs such as these that help create a better environment for children and families.”

HUD’s CDBG program awards grants to state and local governments to help expand economic opportunities and provide suitable housing for low-income individuals; the ESG program awards help establish and operate homeless shelters; the HOME program provides state and local governments with resources to support localized housing programs; and the HOPWA program helps provide low income individuals living with HIV and AIDS with housing resources and assistance.
