Congresswoman Adams Announces More Than $3.5 Million in HUD Funding for Greensboro
Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12) today announced $3,574,061 in federal funding for Greensboro, North Carolina. The funding was allocated through four U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant programs and will be used to support housing initiatives to help those in need. Greensboro will receive $1,967,294 through the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG), $177,108 through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program, $1,108,477 through the HOME program and $321,182 through the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program

The U.S. House today passed H.R. 1734, Improving Coal Combustion Residuals Regulation Act of 2015. Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12) introduced an amendment to H.R. 1734 that would have required regular water-well testing as well as the creation of a public website containing up-to-date water quality information.
New Hanover County to list surplus property online
New Hanover County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution at their regularly scheduled meeting held on Monday, July 20, 2015, declaring certain personal property surplus and authorization for the property to be sold by electronic public auction. The County will be using GovDeals, an on-line auction service provider, for the disposal of this property.
Property Owners Invited to Local Historic Review Criteria Update Meeting
The Durham City-County Planning Department is updating and consolidating the existing local review criteria that applies to all properties within a local historic district or designated as a local historic landmark.
Small Town Main Street Communities Gain Main Street Status
Nearly a dozen Small Town Main Street communities have now achieved Main Street status. Those communities are Ayden, Benson, Bessemer City, Cherryville, Elizabethtown, Tryon, Valdese, Waxhaw and Williamston. These cities and towns have fulfilled the requirements necessary to achieve this designation such as hiring a permanent Main Street director and organizing their downtown revitalization work in accordance with the Main Street Four-Point® program. These communities will benefit from additional training and resources that the NC Main Street Center offers local Main Street directors
