September 11, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that national service programs will participate in community service activities for September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Members will honor veterans and military families by writing thank you notes, collecting coats for the homeless and building a house.

“On this September 11 Day of Service, members of these outstanding organizations are taking the initiative to show appreciation to our brave servicemen and women,” said Gov. Perdue. “I encourage all North Carolinians to get involved and participate in community service events that honor veterans and military families.”

For Sept. 11, Gov. Perdue invites everyone to participate in this day of service by sending a personalized e-thank you to our veterans and military families on her website at www.911DayofService.nc.gov.

The National Day of Service and Remembrance, sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service, is an effort to honor the victims of 9/11 and their families, as well as rekindle the spirit of service.
