Eastside Village construction to begin later this year

-

Hendersonville, NCConstruction of Eastside Village, Hendersonville’s first unified village within the city, is scheduled to begin late this year.

Gus Compano, CEO of Glade Holdings, said that infrastructure plans for the 37-acre development have been submitted to the city and construction will start after all details of the water and sewer system are approved.

The development is planned as an integrated unit, combining both business and residential sections. It allows people living there to walk to stores and to places of work.

Compano said rumors the project had been placed on hold were false. The only significant change, he said, is that construction will start on the residential portion instead of the commercial zone, as originally scheduled.

The project is near the intersection of North Main Street and Duncan Hill Road, with access also from Signal Hill, Clear Creek and Berkeley roads.

The planned sewer and water lines will be large enough to accommodate development of a nearly 10-acre property across North Main Street from the village, a farm purchased by the P.T. Green family last year for about $900,000.
